GAME RULES
-4 on 4 full court
-Two 20 minute halves (3 minute warm up, 1:30 half time).
-Game clock stops on the following:
1) Dead balls in the last 30 seconds of the 1st half.
2) Dead balls in the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half
3) Made baskets in the last minute of the 2nd half
4) Time Outs
-24 second shot clock is active in the last 5 minutes of the game.
-Each team gets 3 timeouts per game (30 seconds).
SCORE CHALLENGE:
If your team suspects the score is wrong, you can call a timeout to challenge the score. If you are right about the score being wrong, you do not lose a time out. If you are wrong about the score error, you will lose 1 timeout. If you unsuccessfully challenge the score and do not have time outs, the opposing team will get 2 free throw and the ball. YOU CAN NOT REWATCH THE GAME AFTER IT HAS BEEN PLAYED AND REQUEST FOR THE GAME TO BE REPLAYED FOR THE ERROR TO BE FIXED. Once the game is over, the game is over.
REFERRE CALL CHALLENGE:
If your team believes a call made by the referree(s) is wrong, you can call a timeout and challenge the call. The referee(s) will then review the call and decide whether the challenge is successful/unsuccessful. If the challenge is successful, you do not lose a time out and will get awarded another challenge. If the challenge is unsuccessful, you will lose a timeout and lose your right to a 2nd challenge. If you unsuccessfully challenge a call without having any time outs, the opposing team will shoot 2 free throw and receive the ball. THERE IS ONLY 2 CHALLENGES PERMITTED PER GAME. The 2nd challenge is only awarded if the 1st challenge is successful. Use your challenge(s) wisely.
-IF NEEDED, the referee has the power to stop the game and review his call. If the referee decides to go back to get another look at the play, the referree can reverse the call.
-No foul outs
Team fouls are charted
7 team fouls per half = 1 and 1
10 team fouls per half = 2 shots
-No back court
-No 10 second violation in the back court
-After whistles: No inbound from baseline. All inbounds are from the side.
Ball advances on timeouts
-Overtime rules:
1st overtime = 1 minute, 24 second shot clock is live. Both teams receive 1 extra timeout. Fouls carry over from regulation.
2nd overtime = SUDDEN DEATH. Win by 2. Game clock is off, but 24 second shot clock is live. Both teams receive 1 extra timeout.
*Any unused timeouts from regulation will carry over to each overtime. The timeout given in the 1st overtime will carry over to 2nd overtime as well if it is not used.
-Mercy Rule: If a team is up 25 or more points, the clock will not stop in the last 2 minutes of the game. If a team brings the point difference back under 20 points, the clock will resume as normal.
-A clear path foul will be awarded to the offensive player if the last defender commits a foul from behing to stop a fast break. This will result in 2 free throws and the ball for the offensive team.
LEAGUE RULES
Games start on time! Clock will start running 5 minutes after officials are ready to start game. A two shot technical will be given for each player that is missing to complete the full 4 needed to play.
If a team only has 2-3 players when the game is scheduled to start, they must play with the amount of players they have until 4 players get to the game.
-Each player must attend AT LEAST ONE GAME in order to be eligible for playoffs. Each player MUST BE ON THE ROSTER in order to play. If a player that is not on your roster plays a game, that game will count as a forfeit and the opposing team gets the 15-0 win.
-Every player must be wearing the same color jersey!
If a member of your team forgets their jersey, they must purchase a Courtside jersey for $10 to play.
We encourage team captains to bring Courtside jerseys to games just in case a team member forgets their custom jersey.
If a team member forgets their custom jersey, they must wear the courtside jersey they were given.
EVERY PLAYER ON EACH TEAM NEEDS TO WEAR THE SAME JERSEY FOR THEIR GAME!
If a player or fan is acting disrespectfully, the referee and/or staff will ask that individual to leave the building. The game WILL NOT RESUME until that individual exits the building.
Fights or Physical altercations = suspension(s) from the league without refund.
Excessive use of profanity towards staff, refs, players, and/or threatening to start a physical altercation (fight), will result in being asked to leave and suspeneded from the league without refund.
The first player to get off their bench and onto the court during an altercation, is automatically suspended for one game.
Suspensions are reviewed and given by the committee. Decisions are subject to change.
-Teams are responsible for their fans. If a fan fights, uses aggressive language, and/or threatens to fight anyone in the facility, your team may get a technical foul, ejection, and/or suspension from the league.
-There is no hanging out in the parking lot at either facility. If you are asked to leave by a staff member, please do so.
- Smoking, cussing, screaming, fighting in either parking lot will result in a suspension from the league without refund.
Schueduling Accomodations:
Once a game is scheduled it is extremely difficult for our staff to make changes. If your team is not able to attend a scheduled game, you need to email courtsideleague@gmail.com. We do NOT guarantee that change requests will be granted. Forfeits are 15-0 W. You need to be ready to play.
